THE BAIRNS
Thanks to my Subscribers
Thanks for dropping by and giving my work a read. Keeps me slaving over a hot computer even harder. Here we’ve been getting some smoky air from all the forest fires, but it keeps me inside and working at my writing even harder while feeling both lucky that our area is not ‘burning down the house’ and sad that a lot of people are losing all they own to the flames. As always life goes on...Right now I’m reformatting a novel entitled THE BAIRNS, which recounts a couple of summers that my brother and I tortured our parents with. I’ll upload it to Amazon still hoping that we’re forgiven. Here’s a quickie intro & description…again, thanks.
THE LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT...
Two pre pubic Scottish brats emigrate to the New World with their recently remarried mother and their ex Canadian soldier step dad only to find that their attitudes stand out even more than their accents as they try to fit in and enjoy themselves while solving life’s eternal problems in their spare time.
THE BAIRNS is a comic drama that pulls together colliding & contradictory themes.
The nature of responsibility - and how to lie your under-aged way out of any situation any time, anywhere.
The loneliness of approaching death - and the pre pubic speed demon’s sense of immortality while crashing a soapbox buggy onto a busy railroad track.
The tense humor between the sexes - and the day to day happy squabbles between nine year olds.
The sad and bitter sense of deja vu of a twice divorced aunt - and the boyhood fear of what the next knock on the door will bring in the way of righteous neighbors’ rage.
The cynical separation of a septuagenarian couple when death for one of them nears — set against the worshipful pre pubic pursuit by our undersized hero of a sweet fat girl who prefers a larger size in males.
I dedicate this novel to my sweet brother Bob who sadly passed away too young and is still missed by those of us who remain.
PS. He’s the cute one on the left on the front cover.
